August 18th 2017: Longest Running #1 Since 39 years

Now Despacito by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber is the longest running #1 song of modern times. It shares the throne with Rivers Of Babylon by Boney M. that had an 17 weeks run at #1 in summer 1978 too. Although that run was disturbed for a single week by You're The One That I Want recorded by John Travolta & Olivia Newton John. So Despacito really is the longest consecutive #1 of the weekly German charts issued since 1971.
To add a 19th week will be hard ... but let's wait that time.

The highest new entry this week lands inside the top 10 as the latest offering by P!NK What About Us starts straight at #9. It brings the artist back to that heigth for the first time since spring 2013 when she topped the list with her duet alongside Nate Ruess Just Give Me A Reason.
What About Us is the 19th top 10 hit for the singer which makes her as successful as the Bee Gees. By spending now a 102nd week inside the top 10 she equals the result of Britney Spears.
